A young woman from Southport, Brooke Shotton, 21, has appeared as one of 15 pianists playing in Manchester Piccadilly Station on the TV programme ‘
‘The Piano’.
The channel 4 show is hosted by Claudia Winkleman. Internationally renowned pianist, Lang Lang, and pop sensation and pianist, Mika, are the judges, and watch all the pianists on camera from a secret booth in each station.
When beautiful Brooke walked towards the piano, Mika commented “She looks like a star!”
Brooke played a piece that she learnt when doing her Grade 8 in 2021-22, Novelette in E minor by Francis Polenc. Brooke played this piece at The Grand in Southport during her time teaching with Southport Piano Academy. This was when she played in their concert for Damien Moore, MP. Being part of this venture and their yearly Christmas and Summer concerts for the previous 2 years helped increase her confidence, as well as did the huge encouragement from her parents.
Brooke played with style on the channel 4 show and although she hasn’t made it through to the final, she is happy to have been part of this experience with so many talented pianists.
“I was really nervous!” Said Brooke. “It is such an inspiring show and to have been a small part of it is a privelege!”
Brooke is now focused on her law degree at Liverpool university and we wish her all the best.

A very talented pianist, it is lovely to hear her play. If Brooke can match her piano talents with that of her law, she will be of great value to the legal profession.
